Mandy Smith is the County Councillor for the Papworth & Swavesey.
Mandy: "I do hope all is well but if you feel I can help please contact me. I have been a County Councillor for 16 years and I do know what stakeholders to get together to try and sort out a problem.
We are currently living in very strange times and we have all had to adapt. I have always tried to get everyone around a table to achieve something. However, now we can setup a Zoom meeting or you can always telephone or email me.
I am here to represent you. I do like to discuss what is going on with as many people as possible so we can get to a happy medium.
My 6 point plan:
Drainage - I am keen to continue to work with all parties to help unblock our drainage problems. Responsibility for drainage is complex and if re-elected, I will continue to bring stakeholders together to tackle the problems caused by increasingly frequent and heavy rainfall.
Improve our roads and footpaths - The County Council filled nearly 64,000 potholes in 2019/20, up 5,000 on the previous year. I want to keep improving this and to invest £1.3M more in footpath maintenance.
Commit to the green agenda - Climate change is a global threat and pollution is impacting on our health and children's futures. I am committed to the County Council's green and energy saving agenda and to a carbon-free and clean economy.
Speeding vehicles - This is a constant and worrying problem. In addition to securing mobile speed awareness signs, I have also reduced a speed limit. If re-elected, I will continue to address this matter.
Super-fast broadband - Under Conservative control, the County Council has seen that 97% of people in Cambridgeshire have super-fast broadband. I am very pleased with this and, if re-elected, I will continue to actively support improvement in access to technology for all residents across the area, to keep our community connected.
A choice of routes - I would like to see more provision made for walking cycling, horses etc. All of which are better for the environment and our wellbeing."
